Veterinary Exam

Whether they are a newborn kitten or a silver-haired dog, all pets can benefit from regular veterinary exams. At the minimum, responsible owners take their pets in for a checkup approximately once per year. This allows us to diagnose problems early on and ensure that your pet continues to thrive. It is also a great opportunity for you to ask any questions about your pet’s health, and receive recommendations tailored to their individual requirements. As always, you are welcome to call us at 613.543.2812 with any of your concerns as a pet owner and to schedule your next consultation.

Why is an examination so important?

Throughout all of their lives, your pets need to be constantly examined so that we can check for any underlying medical conditions and tweak their health care plan accordingly. This way, they can grow properly and be protected against harmful conditions. If they do develop health issues, regular checkups will increase their chances of recovery and improve their quality of life.

What happens during a routine exam?

Your pet will go through a full visual and internal body exam. Your pet’s weight and temperature will be taken, followed by a visual exam from head to toe, then additional diagnostics work. You will also be asked questions in order for us to get a comprehensive understanding of your pet’s needs and lifestyle. Then, the veterinarian will make recommendations on vaccines, diet and other treatments as necessary.

How much does a veterinary exam cost?

The cost varies on your pet’s breed, size and if additional exams or diagnostics tests (e.g. heartworm test, fecal test, allergy test) are conducted. To learn more about our current service rates, please feel free to call us at 613.543.2812.
