Bloodwork Services

Bloodwork is an important diagnostic tool that reveals health information about patients.

By performing blood tests, our team will be able to analyze your pet’s well-being, monitor any conditions they may have and assess if they are appropriate candidates for all types of treatments and surgical procedures. Bloodwork is performed almost daily by our experienced veterinary technicians and you can rest assured that your pet will be in expert hands while their blood is being drawn. The sensation for pets is similar to that of regular injections and vaccines. If you have any further questions about our bloodwork services, please call us at 613-543-2812!

Why are blood tests important for my cat’s or dog’s health?

There are several factors concerning your pet’s health that can only be attained through a sample of their blood. They are a vital component of full-body wellness exams, and allow us to detect (well before they display symptoms) if your pet has been burdened with infections, diseases and other harmful conditions.

How long does it take to get blood test results?

A significant portion of our bloodwork is performed in-house, and results are usually generated within 1 to 2 hours. For more specialized cases, we send tests to an independent laboratory. We usually have to wait about 2 to 3 business days to get the results of these tests.

How often should blood tests be done?

Each pet is different and depending on their age, breed and any condition they may have, the frequency of blood tests varies significantly. Ideally, your pet should be coming in for a wellness exam at a minimum of once per year (blood tests are often performed during these visits).
